Approval plan service

We develop a profile of your exact requirements to determine which publications should be selected for you on an approval basis.

Our profiling is so thorough that our returns rate is minimal.

Customers operating their Approval Plan using GOBI™ will find the process transparent at every stage, and the level of service will be reassuringly familiar.

Easy to use

  • Simply specify the subject areas you are interested in within a given framework and quantify your requirements with a set of non-subject parameters. You can be as detailed or as broad in your specification as you wish.
  • We select titles using publishers' advanced information reports and catalogues, along with the British National Bibliography and other relevant databases.
  • We buy in books to be covered on approval from any of over 1000 UK publishers.
  • Once we have book-in-hand, our bibliographers carefully profile and classify each title to ensure correct details are noted for checking against individual customer requirements.
  • To avoid duplication, we cross-refer all Approval Plan books with Firm Orders. In addition, the database we manage jointly with YBP means we can check UK-initiated approval plans against US-led plans.
  • You will be provided with a Memorandum of Agreement, covering billing and shipment procedures plus your Approval Plan specifications.
  • If you feel a title supplied under the Approval Plan is outside the agreed subject profile, you can return the book for full credit. All titles supplied on approval are accompanied by a slip giving relevant bibliographic detail.

Delivery

Overseas courier shipments to reach you within 14 days from date of invoice. Damaged books will be replaced at no cost.

Invoicing

We make no charge for the Approval Plan Service. Books are invoiced in the usual agreed way (enclosed with each consignment) with no hidden extras.
