RETURNS

Returns policy

Lindsay and Croft endeavours to be as flexible as possible with our returns policy.

Credit & Return Options & Policies:

Firm order customers may only return books automatically if L&C is at fault in some way. Books should be sent back as soon as possible, with six months maximum time allowed. If a customer wishes to return a book due to their error, permission is required from customer services at L&C. If a book has been identified as non-returnable before shipment it will not be possible to return but other requests will be looked at on merit.

Approval plan customers have the right to return within six months of invoice date. Any non-processed book, in re-saleable condition, can be returned without permission, unless L&C has identified an item as non-returnable prior to shipment. Please enclose the last copy of L&C's bibliographic slip, noting the reason for return on the back of the slip, along with a copy of the invoice.

Continuations customers may return books in instances of L&C error and as long as they are returned within six months of invoice date. Please include a copy of the invoice, with the reason for return written next to the title(s).

Damaged or defective books shipped on any L&C service may be returned. Customers should make note of the visible damage when signing for shipments and contact L&C to receive instructions and to enable L&C to follow up with the carrier within 30 days from invoice date for UK customers, and 45 days for overseas customers.

Defective books must be reported within 12 months of invoice date. L&C will determine whether replacements can be obtained without the need to return the books themselves.

Missing books listed on an invoice but missing from the shipment, must be notified within 30 days for UK customers, 45 days for overseas customers.

When returning books please return a copy of the invoice, with reason for return written next to the title(s).

Credit may be obtained in two ways:

  • Customers may highlight returned items on the invoice, and pay the adjusted total.
  • Customers wishing a no-charge replacement, rather than credit, should enclose a written request for replacement and a copy of the original invoice.

Packaging your returns

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept returned books that are damaged in transit due to insufficient packing. Here's our guide to successful returns.

Packaging: Books should be placed flat in a good quality, rigid carton.

Documentation: Include a copy of your invoice, indicating the crediting option you have chosen (credit or replacement). Unless otherwise specified, we will automatically credit your account.

Sealing and labeling: Use a strong, 2" wide tape and apply 3 strips to both the top and bottom of the carton. If the carton has been used before, remove any old address labels and cross through other markings to avoid any confusion.

Place the delivery label on the top of the carton, away from seams or closures, and include your complete return address, with zip code/postal code and full street information. Mark multiple boxes 1 of 2, 2 of 2 etc.

Insurance: Returned books must be shipped via insured mail.
