Technical services

As part of our ongoing commitment to make working with us as easy as possible, Lindsay and Croft offers a range of bibliographic, processing and cataloguing services which can be contracted direct with us — saving you time and money.

Ordering support and electronic ordering

We recognise that libraries have differing needs, preferences and ordering procedures so we now offer a range of tools to enable libraries to submit orders in a wide range of formats; from paper and email, to GOBI™ and local automated library systems. Whatever method you currently use, we'll work with you to offer the best support possible.

We can accept orders in almost any electronic format — contact Customer Services to arrange a test.

Shipping records

MARC-formatted bibliographic shipping records are generated at the time goods are dispatched. If needed, we can also include invoice information and other specified data, effectively customising our records to meet your needs.

Shipping records can be loaded onto automated library systems to support receipt processing and — on some systems — electronic invoicing. Shipping records are also available for accounts that do not receive cataloguing support.

Physical processing

In a climate where libraries are under increasing budget and time pressures, we offer customised processing services to meet very specific library needs. Some libraries may benefit from the full range of services — including shelf-ready books — and others only require one or two services — for example, binding, ownership stamps and barcoding, date due stamping, book pockets, cover treatments, or perhaps the supply and insertion of security devices.

Physical processing services can also be combined with cataloguing support.

Cataloguing support

We offer cataloguing support through OCLC's PromptCat service for goods purchased from us. The local data available for output in shipping records can also be supplied in our PromptCat records.

Shelf-ready service

Shelf-ready combines physical processing and cataloguing support prior to delivery and effectively speeds the arrival of books onto shelves, freeing up valuable time at the destination library.

Lindsay and Croft can generate spine labels in two formats — foil-backed adhesive and Se-Lin, and apply spine label protectors if required. For more information, please contact Customer Services.

Electronic invoicing

We can also support the electronic invoicing formats of most library systems. For more information, contact Customer Services.

Global Online Bibliographic Information (GOBI™)

GOBI™ is the Internet gateway to Lindsay and Croft's and YBP's online services.

Once you've set up an access account, using GOBI™ is easy. Just key in your secure access code to search titles and editions, place orders, set up profiles for your Approval Plan — in fact, every aspect of your account with Lindsay and Croft can be administered from here.

Quicker and cheaper to order direct!

If you already have a YBP account in GOBI™, why not set up a Lindsay and Croft account and place orders direct with us — books are mailed straight to you (rather than via YBP) saving valuable shipping time and there's no surcharge to pay either!

For more information, visit our GOBI™ section.

And don't forget — GOBI™ Edition 2 is available now. If you've not already registered for GOBI™ 2, contact Customer Services to activate your account.
