2003/04 New Book Price and Output Report

2003/04 New Book Price and Output Report Each fall YBP publishes a report on new book prices and publishing output for our prior fiscal year. The data encompasses all new titles profiled on the Approval Plan programs of YBP and Lindsay & Howes, our UK division. This amounts to well over 60,000 distinct new titles annually, and so is a useful index to English-language publishing trends for most academic libraries.

We know this because librarians have often told us they use our data in budgeting and planning. This year we are happy to present not only our usual reports, but also the news that GOBI™ users may now, whenever needed, run their own customized reports.

A complete set of reports, showing separate YBP and L&H data for all titles handled between July 2003 and June 2004, can be found on the YBP website. We present several report types. Some are organized by subject, under the Library of Congress, Dewey, or National Library of Medicine classification system. Others show data by publisher. Subject and publisher reports both show the number of titles handled, the total list price, and the average list price. We also show data by "non-subject parameters," which include bibliographic categories like binding or format, and interdisciplinary fields such as Classics, Women's Studies, or Environmental Studies. All of these reports are available on our website in PDF format. Excel reports are available in GOBI™. Or, libraries may contact us.
